See the Fluidized Bed Powder Coating Process
Fluidized Bed Powder Coating is a process where a pre-heated part is dipped into a tank of fluidized thermoplastic powder, which is typically PVC or Nylon. This creates a beautiful and durable conformal coating on the part.
A fluidized bed is created by forcing air up through thermoplastic powder, making it flow like a liquid. This enables the powder get into all the “nooks and crannies” of the part being coated.
Typically, a fluid bed powder coated part is carefully preheated in a conveyor oven; dipped into the fluidized bed; reheated to make the powder fuse out; and finally cooled to room temperature. In some cases, the reheating isn’t necessary as the heat energy already in the part is sufficient to get the powder to fuse. Cooling is either done in air or water as required.
Advantages of fluidized bed powder coating include virtually no tooling cost, competitive piece price, and complete coverage of your parts.

Plastisol, Nylon Powder & Vinyl (PVC) Powder
Переглядів 20 тис.7 років тому
At Piper Plastics Corp., we process Polyvinyl Chloride and Nylon using different methods. By far, the material that we process the most is Plastisol. Plastisol is a thermoplastic liquid at room temperature and is primarily composed of PVC suspension resin and plasticizer. When processed correctly using heat, the plasticizer, which makes the vinyl flexible, gets locked into the Vinyl molecules a...
Components of a Plastisol Dip Molding System
Переглядів 35 тис.7 років тому
This short video introduces you to the three main components needed in order to process plastisol, either by dip molding or dip coating. Those components are the ovens, the dipping axis system and the plastisol tank. The ovens serve two purposes in plastisol dip molding and dip coating. During preheat, the ovens put thermal energy into the mandrels so that it can be released into the plastisol ...

Dip molding is defined as a process where a dipping mandrel is dipped into a liquid polymer, typically plastisol, to eventually create a solid form on the external surface of the mandrel. The cost of molding by dipping is always low. Most molds are very simple and inexpensive. Dip molding, if automated is competitive with most other molding process. Is it possible to paint the aluminum door handle? And is it necessary to bake after this process?
I am working to build some fluid tanks and have had a couple failed attempts so far. I have read that some powders are too fine for this process. I am currently working on that research. I am seeing guys build very small tanks and coating fishing lures and such so I know it's possible. I believe the trick is the membrane choice between the powder and the air chest as well as the powder granularity.
Some people use 3D-printed compartment trays to distribute air and cover it with a paper air filter. Seem to work great.

In your video you state that color can be added to the plastisol, but don't address that issue any further. Do you have another video that shows how to change colors of the material. Furthermore, what scale do you use to know how much pigmentation to add to get the color you want? Thank you for your time!
The "rule of thumb" is to use as little pigment as necessary to achieve the desired result. Most plastisols will produce clear or "natural" parts without any additional pigment, even though it may look white in its liquid state.
Can I use this technique for painting Bob pins , hair pins and other jewellery items. ?

So is plastidip brand coating same as plastisol? How do they get around the heat curing process?
In our view, products similar to that which you mention are not anything close to the same as plastisol. It’s our understanding that products like those are solvent based, requiring no heat to process. There will be a noticeable difference between parts dipped in materials similar to that which you mention, and a part professionally dipped in plastisol.
Sir How did you make the tank please if possible put a video
I am sure its proprietary secret. Do your research the parts are out there and readily available for purchase. Tank just takes a little common sense to build, good luck!
how make the tank ?
I feel bad....where are the views?
Why not make a video of how it actually works?
